Loads of new MyBlogLog features
MyBlogLog creates loads of data and we've had pretty much zero opportunity to provide useful ways of using it. Thankfully, SoloSEO has stepped in and created a suite of tools for analyzing your network and comparing it with other members. There are six tools to check out, and my favorites are "Compare Your Contacts" which identifies common members between two communities as well as unique members for each, and "Add Missing Contacts" which lists members of your communities that you haven't added as a contact yet.
We've been talking about this for days at MyBlogLog. This is really wonderful and we're excited that members are working hard to decode our system and build tools on top of it. We're thinking hard about how to best roll out a robust API (see Flickr for how to do this right) but in all honestly, it's going to take a while. If you think you can make MyBlogLog better right now, go for it!
Thanks again, SoloSEO.

Eric - when you say "If you think you can make MyBlogLog better right not, go for it!", do you have a pseudo-API available?
There are a few things I'd LOVE to develop, but not sure what tools you already have available (would hate to start completely from scratch if I didn't need to).
Any advice would be much appreciated, I look forward to helping out.

Anita -- nothing even approaching a psuedo api. I don't want to set any expectation at all regarding documentation, support or anything :) There's the SoloSEO method (which I'm guessing is a screen scrape) and then we've seen some cool hacks where people take the xml data from a widget and combine it with other data in the css. Kent Brewster has an in-depth description of how he made his MyBlogLog / del.icio.us hack here: http://kentbrewster.com/adding-tags-to-mybloglog

I'd like to see the "Recent Readers" javascript code updated to add a summary tag to the table so it's valid code. That's the only thing that's left it off my site. I can't very well go selling my services as a standardnista and then have code on my site that doesn't validate. :)

I don't know about this "What My Members Clicked on Other Sites Today." I think this encourages spamming. If I understand this feature correctly, a spammer can get multiple accounts, add you as a contact in a couple of them, and then click on the spam that they want you to see. How about replacing this with "What the authors of my communities click on Today?" This way, the info flow is pull, and not push.

Hi Eric, I was wondering if there is a widget available for showing your recent comments from fellow MyBlogLog ers. My widgets are getting alot of love and I just feel like sharing it with a widget!

Interesting.
I just stopped by and I see the listings are now alphebetical, rather than by how many members each community has amassed.
Meaning, anyone with a fullstop or an 'a' in their name are at the top for that search.
So, what use are the communities? Or have I just hit on a recent change before more comes through?

SoloSEO blew me away when he posted a "how to" for a MyBlogLog Sunday top referrer widget - basically he explains how to display the 10 blogs I feature on MyBlogLog Sunday in order of who refers most traffic to The Pisstakers on a week by week basis. http://tinyurl.com/2twh2a
Trouble is I am mostly clueless in that side of things, but if anyone wants to help get it working, I am sure it could be applied to loads of different situations for all MyBlogLog users. FWIW I will chuck some gummi bears into the pot for an added incentive.
cheers, Ed
