At Your Service
We've re-arranged the Edit Profile area to make it easier to keep track of the various services that are attached to your profile. Instead of mixing in everything into one long screen that had everything in there along with your personal details, we created a new tab called Services and pushed things there. We've also removed the concept of sharing your Services with just your contacts. We'll be adding more and more Services here and we don't want this to turn into a switchboard of user permissions. You're either publishing to the web or you're not. Let's keep it simple.
This new design clears the plate for a number of new features we have in the queue. I don't want to steal Eric's thunder here but let's just say that while MyBlogLog to date has been about providing pointers to different places where you publish, we want to fill that out a bit and bring together those bits and pieces of your virtual self under one roof and bring it to life.
Managing the URLs to your numerous hangouts is an important first step. Have a look see and review the Services tab for accuracy just to make sure we've got our ducks in a row. The more stuff you add here, the richer your profile will be. If you no longer wish to share your updates on any of these services here with the MyBlogLog community, simply remove it.
Finally, we hear you on your suggestion to allow an opt-out of the Community Messaging e-mails. If you look down to the bottom of the main Profile page, you'll see an option to recuse yourself.

Thanks a lot for adding an opt-out feature! :)

This is why I love and love to promote MyBlogLog - they listen to the community. Thanks for adding a feature to appease those concerned about the issue.

Hey guys,
A definite step in the right direction :) but ...
How about an option to Intentionaly Opt-in? While I don't want to receive email and messages from each and every one, there are at least 10-20 communities on my list that I wouldn't mind receiving messages from ...
So something similar to double opt-in option of mailing lists would be nice ...

Good job on the opt out MBL team. It's appreciated :)

@Alex,
Thanks for the suggestion but let's go with what we have, at least for now. There are so many things on our plate that we need to get to first.

This is perfect, now everyone can choose exactly what they want. MyBlogLog rocks!

Thanks for adding the opt-in :)
However, the services page isn't quite perfect as yet - I'm unable to put my blogger profile page in there as it is all numbers (and I believe that all blogger profile pages are numbers), and it says that it is an invalid ID.
Also, the Last.fm line does not allow usernames with underscores in them, as mine happens to have.
Thanks :)

A BIG THANK for rescuing us, specially me, from this community message bulletin. I am very happy being getting rid of this unnecessary trouble. Cheers for Eric!!!

Thanks for responding with a way for us to remove ourselves from community-wide messages. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work though. I've opted out yet continue to get such messages. Am I missing something?

@Sephyroth - I believe that all Blogger IDs are the email address that you have with your Google account (I'll double check). Thanks for the pointer on LastFM IDs, I'll let the engineers know.
@Mark - I'll contact you via email to ask for a copy of the email messages you're receiving just so I can verify its source. Is anyone else seeing Community Messages even though they've opted out?

Guys, while the opt out of community EMAILS is a step in the right direction, why is it not possible to opt out of community messaging completely? Certainly, as Alex suggests it would be great to do it community by community. As it stands the messages just clog the profile, until we can manually delete them.

@Sephyroth - The ID is that number that you mentioned. If your number is correct and it is still not working, please email me at robyn@mybloglog.com so we can check it out.

@Meg - We're going to keep it the way it is for now. The next step would be to give you control over the messages on your profile but we've got to leave that for the time being while we slay other dragons.

I continue to get spam even though I've opted out. Isn't that setting supposed to prevent that?

Hi Ian,
For the whole day I've been trying to update screenshot one of my blogs. Whenever I clicked on the "click to update" link, it send me to "Edit Profile". After uploading a screenshot's image and cropping, the only changes it made was my avatar.
Any ideas, Ian? I want to update my screenshot.
I know it has been quite some time since I last updated the screenshot. Maybe I missed to click something, or maybe the "click to update" thingy are not working anymore.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Greeting from Malaysia.

@ArahMan7, thanks for pointing this out. I can see it's not working right. I've got a note in to the engineers and we'll take a look at it first thing Monday morning.

@ArahMan7 - the screenshot upload screen is now fixed!

Same for me... I'm unable to change the screenshot of my blog - it's been like 6 months now ! ;-)
Anything to do ?

I think there's a stray link we forgot to add back in when we recently re-arranged these screens. We'll get this fixed pronto!

Fixed! Go to your Site Settings page and click on "update" link next to your screenshot.
